USAGE
Camlocks are used in many different industries and applications. When selecting the proper Cam and Groove Couplings, it is important to consider the chemical compatibility of the process fluid and process temperature. Camlock Couplings operate by opening the coupler arms and inserting the adapter into the coupler. The arms are folded down into position to complete a tight sealed join.
TERMINOLOGY
Camlock Fittings are also known as Cam and Groove Fittings or Camlock Couplings. Camlock hose connectors which include the term Cam Lock Quick Connect, which are useful when connecting or disconnecting pipe, tubing or hose.
MATERIAL
Our Camlocks are manufactured from a high-quality aluminum alloy and feature 304 stainless steel pins, impact/wear resistant forged brass arms, plated steel finger rings, sandcast body finish and are heat treated to provide greater durability. These Camlock Fittings are made to strict tolerances to ensure a leak proof seal. NFC supplied Camlock hose connectors are made according to the Mill Spec which ensure the proper mating of the male adapter and female coupler.
OPERATING PRESSURE
Standard Cam and Groove Couplings operating pressure is specified at 150 PSI for most sizes. Please see specifications page for detailed pressure rating for each size.
THREADS
National Pipe Thread (NPT) is designed to seal when threaded onto pipe.
GASKETS
Standard Camlock gaskets are made of Buna-N Nitrile to resist water and low aromatic petroleum products. It is recommended to confirm if gasket material is compatible with fluid being processed
TEMPERATURE RANGE
As a guide only, Aluminum may be suitable for -150°F to + 250°F.
SAFETY NOTE
Cam and Groove Couplings are not recommended for any type of compressed gas service, including steam or air.
